DD5HW4 Project #1

The focused purpose of this situation is to thoroughly understand how to use the presentation tool Prezi. My targeted audience for the instructions I wrote would be business people, academics, and students. The instructions can be digital or physical, depending on what the individual prefers when attempting to use Prezi. A detail that for filled the need of the rhetorical element purpose, would be the fact that at the beginning of each document I explained what the instructions were about and or why it was important to know how to do that specific aspect of Prezi.

I am most proud of the fact that when I asked a handful of people, that have never used Prezi before,  to read through my instructions and try to do the task I explained afterwards, they all were able to do it. I am proud of that because that means that my instructions worked. I wish I had more time to make the instructions less plain. I got stuck when trying to figure out what screenshots would be the most helpful to the individual who would be reading my instructions. I overcame this problem by trying to use Prezi on my own to see which images would be most beneficial to me.

The technology I used to complete this project was my apple Macbook air, google doc, Prezi, and google drawing.  They were appropriate because they accomplished what I needed to do. I learned how to use google drawing and Prezi, and I learned how to write instructions briefly/clearly. I hope to learn how to use other tools as well as I learned how to use Prezi by explaining it to someone else. I will use these technologies again because I know I have many more presentations ahead of me, and I will definitely use Prezi for a number of those presentations. One course outcome that I feel I worked towards with this assignment was, critique and use flexible strategies for reading, drafting, reviewing, collaborating, revising, rewriting, rereading, and editing using a variety of technologies. I feel like I worked toward this outcome because in order to complete this assignment we had to make a draft, review our draft, and review and collaborate on other people's drafts by editing and making recommendations. I also feel like I worked toward the outcome of, create, critique, analyze, and evaluate multimedia texts with technical content, for some of the same reasons. Those reasons being that we had to create our own instructions about an already existing tool. We also had to look at other people's instructions and thoroughly analyze and critique them. Finally, I feel like I worked toward the outcome develop intentional cross-cultural connections and relationships with others to participate in the collaborative and social aspects of technical writing processes, including giving and responding to productive feedback and working in teams. I feel like I have worked toward this outcome because I gave feedback to classmates and I responded to some of their feedback that was given on my instructions. One personal course goal that I feel I worked toward with this assignment was my goal to figure out how to pace oneself out accordingly to do all assignments well and on time. This project had several aspects to it and many assignments within this assignment. For example, there was a needs assessment, an outline assignment, a usability assignment, a reflection on my classmates drafts, layout revisions,  a style assignment, and proofreading assignment, all for this one project. I had to pace myself when completing these aspects and I did end up finishing them all on time. I learned that I am capable of figuring something out if I put my mind to it, and I can reflect on it through technical writing.
